What is W.A.R. Athletics About?
History
Active for over 35+ years and a constant staple in the community, We Ain't Reinforcements or better known as W.A.R. is a Galveston County based athletic organization. Led by the direction of head coach Mike Evans, W.A.R.'s emphasis has been on developing youth from the local Galveston County and south Houston communities.
W.A.R. is deeply committed to giving back to the community through a variety of initiatives. The organization hosts the annual Hoops Against Drunk Driving Tournament and Toys for Tots Tournament and Toy Drive, where a portion of the proceeds benefits Toys for Tots and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In addition to these events, W.A.R. provides ongoing support to local families by offering food and financial donations throughout the year—not just during the holidays. The organization also plays a crucial role in helping youth secure scholarships and gain acceptance to college. Under the leadership of President Mike Evans, W.A.R. is dedicated to making a positive impact and always strives to meet the needs of the community whenever and wherever they arise.
Mission Statement
Our constant focus is on teaching fundamental basketball, developing discipline for on AND off the court, and increasing conditioning and growth within each player. The overall goal is to help these young athletes become successful young men and women and not JUST a better athlete. We aim to do all of this while being as affordable as possible.
